Last updated: 1 January 2025

Go Low Waste Pty Ltd (ABN 98 703 115 824) (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. What personal information we collect

We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our business and consulting activities. Depending on your dealings with us, this may include:

  • your name, business name and position;
  • your email address and preferred contact details;
  • your organisation’s location, industry and size;
  • information about your business processes, waste streams and operational data provided to us for assessment or advisory purposes;
  • enquiry and correspondence records, including messages submitted through our website forms;
  • billing and invoicing details reasonably required to provide our services.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive information (as defined in the Privacy Act) unless it is voluntarily provided and relevant to the services we are engaged to perform, and you consent to its collection.

2. How we collect personal information

We collect personal information in a number of ways, including:

  • directly from you when you submit an enquiry, request a quote, or engage our services via our website, by email, or in person;
  • through correspondence, meetings, site visits and consultation sessions;
  • from publicly available sources where it is reasonable and practicable, such as your business’s published contact details;
  • from third parties you authorise to provide information to us on your behalf.

Where reasonable and practicable, we collect personal information directly from you rather than from third parties. We also collect anonymised website analytics data (such as pages visited and general location derived from IP addresses) to improve the performance and usability of our website. This analytics data is not used to identify individual visitors.

3. Why we collect and use personal information

We collect, hold and use personal information for purposes including:

  • responding to enquiries and providing requested quotes and proposals;
  • delivering professional business and consulting services, including waste-reduction assessments, process reviews and advisory engagements;
  • managing our client relationships, contracts, invoicing and payments;
  • communicating with you about our services, project progress and relevant updates;
  • meeting our legal, regulatory, accounting and tax obligations;
  • improving our website, services and business operations.

We will not use or disclose your personal information for a purpose other than the primary purpose of collection, unless you consent, the information is not sensitive information and the secondary purpose is related (or in the case of sensitive information, directly related) and you would reasonably expect that use or disclosure, or an exception under the APPs applies.

4. Disclosure of personal information

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We may disclose personal information to:

  • service providers who assist us with website hosting, email communications, analytics, accounting or administrative functions, under contractual confidentiality obligations;
  • professional advisers such as accountants, auditors and legal advisers where reasonably required;
  • government agencies, regulators or law enforcement bodies where required or authorised by law.

Some of our service providers may be located outside Australia or store data on servers outside Australia. Where personal information is disclosed overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it in accordance with the APPs, including APP 8 (cross-border disclosure), such as through contractual safeguards.

5. Quality, security and retention of personal information

We take reasonable steps to ensure the personal information we collect is accurate, complete and up to date. We hold personal information in secure electronic systems with access limited to personnel who need it to perform their duties.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. When personal information is no longer required for the purposes for which it was collected, or for legal or record-keeping purposes, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or de-identify it.

6. Access to and correction of your personal information

Under APP 12 and APP 13, you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you and to request its correction if you believe it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. We will respond to such requests within a reasonable period. In some circumstances, we may decline a request where an exception under the APPs applies (for example, where giving access would be unlawful or would compromise the privacy of others). If we decline, we will provide reasons and information about how to seek a review.

To request access to or correction of your personal information, contact us at ceo@golowwaste.online.

7. Complaints and privacy enquiries

If you have a complaint about how we have handled your personal information, or a question about this policy, please contact us first at ceo@golowwaste.online so we can resolve the matter promptly and fairly. We will acknowledge your complaint and respond within a reasonable timeframe.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) via its website at www.oaic.gov.au.

8. Website data and cookies

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to support essential functionality and to gather anonymised usage statistics. You can adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies; however, some features of the website may not function correctly as a result. Any enquiry forms on our website transmit the details you provide to us by email for the sole purpose of responding to your request.

9. Changes to this policy
